About Desert Roots Care
Desert Roots Care is an independent, informational directory of licensed assisted living homes, assisted living centers, and adult foster care facilities across Arizona. We built it to solve a specific problem: families searching for senior care are usually met with directories that push them toward whoever pays the highest referral fee, not necessarily the best fit.
We take a different approach. Our listings come directly from Arizona Department of Health Services licensing records — not paid placements, not sponsored rankings.
Who’s behind this
Desert Roots Care is run by Richard Lang, based in Mesa, Arizona. After seeing how confusing and sales-driven the senior care search process can be for families, I built Desert Roots Care to be the resource I’d want if I were searching for a parent or loved one — straightforward, accurate, and honest about how it works.
Desert Roots Care operates as a trade name of Lang Bookkeeping LLC, a licensed Arizona business.
Our methodology: where our data comes from
Every facility listed on Desert Roots Care is sourced from official Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) licensing records, specifically the Bureau of Residential Facilities Licensing, which regulates and inspects assisted living homes, assisted living centers, and adult foster care facilities statewide.
- Data source: Arizona Department of Health Services public licensing datasets
- Update frequency: Our facility data is refreshed monthly to reflect new licenses, closures, and status changes
- What we list: Facility name, address, license number, license type, capacity, and contact information as recorded by ADHS
- What we don’t do: We don’t accept payment in exchange for higher placement or better visibility in search results. Every listing is presented on the same terms.
We encourage families to independently verify any facility’s current license status and inspection history through Arizona’s official AZ Care Check tool before making a final decision. We link to this resource because we believe families deserve direct access to primary source information, not just our summary of it.
How we make money
Today, Desert Roots Care is entirely free to use, with no paid placements or advertising. As the directory grows, we plan to offer optional paid features for facilities — such as featured placement or enhanced listings — clearly labeled as such. Our core commitment won’t change: paying us will never affect a facility’s accuracy of information or its position in unpaid search results.
